Impressions 2: Now you see me, now you remember me. (50cmx45cm)
The Artful Room
Artwork are created by Carla Russo, a local Darwin artist who is fascinated with the power of colour to change atmospheres and moods. She creates bright and colourful artworks to evoke positive emotions and to draw attention to the beauty in our surroundings. Carla mainly works with acrylic paint on canvas and is curious about loosely representing unique elements of Darwin life through bright brush strokes that are often encircled with contrasting lines. I fondly refer to these as colour gems.
Carla explains her artworks of Magpie geese:
I have experimented with the impact of different colours next to each other to create vibrant, joyful visual celebrations of this classic NT bird. As a Territory girl whose father and brother are hunters, Magpie Geese have been in my life since I can remember. As a child I went out hunting with my father and I’d have the job of running to find fallen geese that would later be our dinner for the week. I never enjoyed eating Magpie Geese and when I was old enough to choose, I chose not to partake. I cherish my hunting adventures with my father although I’d rather forget the taste of our catch. Since returning to Darwin I have been delighted by these beautiful and often comical birds. I love seeing them in our urban landscapes and hearing the unique honk! They never fail to bring a smile to my face. In my paintings I have tried to capture this joy, and their classic poses.
( Colours may slightly vary in real life then in the photo, Carla welcomes you to view the works in person at The Artful Room before purchasing)
